Pattern Review, McCall’s Easy Stitch N Save M9256

I just stitched up this pattern last night. I made the dog coat D. I have to say that the name of this pattern company “Easy Stitch N Save” is true for this pattern. It was easy. I would recommend it for a beginner or intermediate sewer.  So here is the picture of the pattern. Its for small to 5X large dogs! The main body of this coat is one piece, the belt is 2 pieces. Just pick 2 contrasting materials and go for it. And pretty binding will fancy it up as well. I was thinking when I make another one I will embellish it a bit more.

This is the color I picked out of my stash. A medium denim material.

The lining I used a muslin material. Just plain.

I had this purple binding tape in my stash. It probably is old. lol. But it worked pretty well. Next time I would use a wider binding until I get the hang of putting binding on items like this. But it did finish it off nicely.

The finished coat. I need to go and get Velcro so my dog can wear it. I had it on him for a bit with the stick on velcro but it did not last long. Thus that is why there is wrinkles. lol.

So that is that. Pretty easy. It does not take much material and you can make a costume coat for your dog for less than buying one in a store.  The pattern was only 4.97 at Walmart.

Embroidered Heart.

Here is the finished heart I was making for a friend. This is all made from things I already had. Old jeans, vintage buttons, vintage embroidery threads and thread, acrylic pour skins, vintage seed beads, cheap beads, lace, and on the back I backed it with hand panted paper and some trim. I hope my friend likes it.

This took a long time to do but once I got going with it this piece took on its own life. Where there was no hearts appeared a heart, flowers popped up, beads that I was not sure of looked different. It was fun to see how this developed.

Candee Catt. My 1989 pattern sewn up for Easter. Pattern by: Designs by Mondanna

Hi there. Welcome to my blog. I recently got my sewing area all set up and I gave myself a sewing challenge to make Easter items in Feb.

There is a little story on this cat. Her name is Candee Catt. Its a pattern I found in my mothers pattern stash. It has sat in my house for a few years now. I have pulled it out several times to make her only to put it back away again. So with my own personal challenge I finally got to cutting her out and sewing her together. All from the stash of fabric my mother had.

Here is the body.

Her face is painted. I did use pink eye shadow for a bit of blush for her ears and cheeks.

No automatic alt text available.

Here she is in her dress. Complete with bows for her ears. She is adorable.

I have done a little bit of a thrift/around the house haul and I listed the items on ebay! And facebook sales wants trades sites.

This plate I found a few weeks back while thrifting.  I love local things like this. Just a small reminder how great the Pittsburg area is.

This tie is so nice. It’s all silk, printed in Italy and made in the USA. A golfer will love this.

For some reason I can not get a hit on this bleacher seat.

This medical dictionary was my mom’s. I will not reference it. So I thought I would see if I can get a few dollars for it.

This microwave plate. I thought I would see how it does. It may end up at the thrift.

I think I got these clip earrings at the thrift shop. They may be bakelite. They are old and vintage. See how they do. Or I’ll turn them into pierce earrings and wear them.

If you would like to bid on some of these items you can find them at dlsteincafelady.

Why the house haul? I am cleaning out and need to get rid of things plus pay off some bills. So I will be working on making this a bit of a second income of sorts. I did sell on ebay before. A lot has changed and I am ready to get into it again along with other avenues of selling like facebook and craigslist.

I tried a new recipe today. Whisky fudge! I had this Maple Jim Beam in the house so I used it.

I got out some polymer clay last night and made these up. I baked them off just a little while ago. As I learn more jewelry making techniques I am also finding more inexpensive ways to make jewelry also. While gemstones and more expensive beads are beautiful I just do not have the funds right now to purchase them. And I’m still learning many techniques so I do not want to waste my supply budget on expensive items and make a mess of them. And this was fun to make these and used up some old clay I had here that needed used.
